Disaster Recovery

Does your company have a disaster recovery and business continuity plan in place in case a disaster strikes? Imagine what it would cost if your company were closed for a day, a week or longer due to a system failure, man-made or natural disaster or any other catastrophic event. WORLDLINK can help design cost-effective disaster recovery and continuity solutions for enterprises of all sizes.

Disaster Recovery

WORLDLINK's disaster recovery and colocation facilities provide a safe, secure environment from which your disaster recovery efforts can begin. Whether your requirements are as simple as basic off-site data backups, as complex as a fully replicated hot site of your entire IT infrastructure, or somewhere in between, WORLDLINK is ready to meet your needs today. With WORLDLINK's disaster recovery solutions, your backup infrastructure is always in place. So you can run and restore business applications in addition to restoring data access. This lets you minimize downtime, quickly get business processes back up and running, and reduce impact to your customers and partners.

The two main types of disaster recovery services are Data Loss Prevention and Infrastructure Redundancy.

Data Loss Prevention

With WORLDLINK's Data Loss Prevention service, emphasis is placed on enhancing a back-up system to prevent any future loss of data. Having such a system in place ensures quick restoration of the system and business continuity after the disaster. Data loss prevention is a must for any business as the loss of any data – no matter how miniscule an amount – can translate into huge losses for the company.

Your Data Loss Prevention plan through WORLDLINK can be as simple as sending us your offsite backups for storage, or backing up to one of our redundant backup servers.

Infrastructure Redundancy

This is the most popular form of a disaster recovery service in the absence of a sound back-up system. Damaged business systems can be restored by using alternative infrastructure and gadgets at a different location. This is extremely crucial for any data centric IT and related businesses.

The level of Infrastructure Redundancy appropriate for your business comes down to the length of time you can afford to be without your infrastructure and data and the agility of your IT team to restore data and services.

Three main types of Infrastructure Recovery that can be combined or customized to develop the perfect Disaster recovery plan include:

  1. Cold sites: These are essentially reserved empty cabinet spaces with power supply and cooling where you can move in your equipment and start functioning again. No data recovery options are included.
  2. Warm sites: These spaces are better than cold sites in that they come with communication equipment for plug-in connectivity. There is also some back-up equipment (servers, storage, etc.) available to begin work on data restoration.
  3. Hot sites: These are basically duplicate data centers with all the equipment and connectivity required to switch over and go live almost instantaneously after a disaster has occurred.

No matter what the size of your business, including disaster recovery services within your system is no longer an optional add-on. It is an indispensable element of your IT systems because we simply don't know what kind of danger is lurking round the corner.
